A relaxed baby is a happy baby!

Touch is a wonderful way to bond and gives time to play with your child.

Massaging your little one not only aids in relaxation and helping them sleep better, but also helps tone muscles, speeds brain and nervous system development, strengthens the immune system and can relieve discomforts associated with teething, chest and sinus congestion, colic and reflux.

What are the benefits:

For your baby

  • Helping your baby to feel securely attached
  • Helping your baby to feel more loved, valued and respected
  • Reduced crying and emotional distress
  • Increased levels of relaxation and longer sleep
  • Development of body awareness and coordination
  • Relief from wind, colic, constipation and teething pain.

For you

  • Feeling closer to your baby
  • Gaining a deeper understanding of your baby's behaviour, crying and body language
  • Providing an enjoyable opportunity to spend one-to-one time with your baby
  • Feeling the relaxing effects of giving your baby a massage
  • Increased confidence in your ability to care for and nurture your baby
  • Learning a life-long parenting skill

What happens on our Baby Massage course

Our baby massage course offers much more than just the practical strokes of how to massage your baby. Each weekly session covers the baby massage strokes and gentle stretches, as well as time for discussing relevant parenting topics.

This discussion time is for mothers and fathers to share ideas and experiences (if they choose to) and ask questions to the group and the teacher. The usual things that parents want to discuss are; sleeping, feeding, feelings and emotions, demands of becoming a parent, crying and not being able to put their baby down.

We teach the traditional and authentic baby massage routine over five-weekly sessions. To avoid over-stimulation we choose not to mix baby massage with any other new baby programs.

Week 1 – Leg Massage

Week 2 – Stomach massage, including the colic routine (and recap on leg strokes)

Week 3 – Chest and arms massage (and recap on stomach and legs)

Week 4 – Face and back massage (and recap all previous strokes)

Week 5 – Whole body massage and gentle yoga stretches

Our instructors are all fully qualified, insured and hold certification with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM). The teacher will never massage a baby, the only person to touch or massage in our classes is the parent or caregiver.
